[ When Allison answers, she will hear a recording, first, kicked off by chipper female voice that almost sounds like a real person. ]
Hello! This is a prepaid collect call from
[ A short pause follows and is proceeded by another female voice, sounding lower in pitch, less cheerful, and more robotic. ]
An inmate at Semione County Women's Correctional Facility. This call is subject to recording and monitoring. To accept charges, press one. To refuse charges, press two.
[ Once Allison makes her selection, the second automated female voice will continue her disclaimer. ]
Thank you for using T-Netix. You may start the conversation now.
[ There will be a soft clicking sound and then loud background noise can be overheard on the line. ]
[ Allison has been studying to take the test for her GED, so she’s reading at the kitchen table and trying to make sense of facts and things that, honestly, don’t really seem that important. She has died, for God’s sake, but she knows she still needs her high school degree, so...here she is. Studying.
All that goes out the window, though, when the call comes through and she freezes when she realizes where it’s coming from.
Especially when Lydia’s voice comes through the other side. ]
Lydia? Are you okay?
[ She’s already standing, rushing through the apartment to find her keys. ]
[ The words come out almost in a single string for how quickly she blurts them out. ]
Don't freak out, it's okay. I'm okay. I only have a couple of minutes, so I'll tell you when you get here, but can you come to Seminole County Women's Correctional Facility? You'll have to take an Uber, it's outside Orlando. I'll pay you back for everything.
Stop at an ATM and take out whatever the max is, I think it's like $500? And call a bail bondsman for the rest - they set my bail at a thousand dollars but they have all my shit, so I can't, like, give you my card to stop at another ATM.
Just don't freak out and don't say anything to anybody. Just...it's gonna be fine, I promise.
[ There is no way Lydia knows that and she's sure that won't be lost on Allison, but she feels the need to say it anyway. ]
[ Argents are great at compartmentalizing, and she focuses on that. Get her keys, get money, get to Lydia. It helps her to remain calm, to sound reassuring because Lydia needs her right now. ]
I’m already on my way out, don’t worry. I’ll get you out of there.
[ There’s a determination in her voice that is clear, that pretty much says she’ll break her out if she has to, but she has to remind herself that they’re in the “real” world. There’s bail and a process and it’s fine. She’ll be fine. She’ll get her out in no time. ]
Are you sure you’re okay? Are you hurt?
[ She’s already out of the apartment, requesting an Uber while she talks. She just needs to know that, because as much as she tries to focus, that’s the main thing she wants to know right now. ]
[ If someone tries to hurt Lydia again, she thinks, Lydia will get a chance to return the favor because Allison would more than likely get herself arrested then.
But, that’s for later. ]
I love you, too, and no you don’t owe me anything.
[ There’s a little warning tone to let them know their time is running out, and Allison tries to ignore the way her heart twists in her chest because she wants to keep her on the line until she gets there. Collect calls are apparently not very forgiving, though.
The Uber is here. I’ll see you in a little bit, okay? It’ll be okay, we’ll get it all worked out. I love you, Lydia.
Is she okay? Did she tell you what happened? They're having a fucking field day on Facebook but there's no ACTUAL news in the paper. I didn't see it until this morning - do you need me?
[ It's implied that he's asking whether they need his pain transference; if Lydia's physically injured. He'd ask Lydia himself if they didn't have such a tumultuous history. He and Allison do, too, but it's easier to put that behind him when, back home, Allison's dead and her father has been a really close ally of Derek's. Lydia...eh. It's just awkward. ]
She’s okay, and no one really got hurt. They got into it verbally in the bar, and when she tried to leave they followed her out and kept instigating her. It was more of a scuffle than assault, and it was all self defense, but apparently they can’t stop running their mouth.
Thanks for checking in.
You’ve been here a while, right? Has it been like this before?
That sounds about how I figured. I'm glad she's okay.
Yeah, almost a year. It comes and goes in waves, but no...it's escalating. Another friend of mine told me she was ambushed. I didn't realize that, but...Lydia makes two and that's not a coincidence. It's never really gone past a one-off in person or a bunch of shit online, as far as I know.
No idea, but it's not a good sign. That much is pretty clear. I don't know what might've been a trigger for it, if that's what you're asking. Nothing jumps out at me.
I just got all the missed calls (good God, I can't believe the bracelet didn't just straight melt off my wrist). Have I really been gone that long??? I swear to God, two seconds ago, we were in the maze...
Anyway, I'm on my way home. I'm sorry, I don't know what happened...we'll talk more when I get back.
( If there is God, Lydia thinks, He'll let her get back to the goddamned apartment complex without running into any drunk locals. It's a Tuesday, apparently, so maybe she'll get lucky. )
Yeah, I'm okay. Downtown, looks like. According to Klaus, half the city has been. I'm not that far sweetie. By the time he got to me, I'd be nearly there, but if it'll make you feel better, you can send him.
It's okay, I don't mind you sending him, sweetie. I'd be freaking out completely if the tables were turned, so if it makes you feel better, go ahead and send him. He can walk me back the last few blocks.
i woke up and everything is back to normal at least i think it is i should probably still take you up on the training though i dunno if this will happen again if you're still willing to help

Can you think of a reason why it could be escalating? I don’t go out much beyond work and the usual stuff, so I don’t know if I’ve missed something.
